Success Coach
Amy Schwenkmeyer
Amy has worked as a teacher, cross-cultural trainer, life coach, writer, and non-profit strategist with decades of experience working with young people and adults. In her work with an international education non-profit, Amy oversees the development of programs and designed and led international exchange programs for high school students that focused on leadership, civic engagement, and cross-cultural understanding. She understands the transformative power of deep listening – and really cares about people and helping them learn and grow.
As a Moxie coach, Amy works with students who are looking for support that complements the college application process. For example, this may include working on mindset, managing feelings of overwhelm, or gaining clarity on goals and values. Amy believes that the more you get to know your true and essential self, the easier it is to trust your decisions and grow from your experiences. As a practicing Reiki Master and life coach, Amy takes a holistic approach to her work and whole-heartedly believes in supporting students in mind, body and spirit. She is skilled at creating a warm and supportive atmosphere and helping students raise their self-awareness and gain valuable perspective on their lives.
Amy holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology with an art history minor from Miami University and holds a Master’s in Intercultural Management from the School for International Training. She also earned a Certificate in Teaching English as a Foreign Language from the University of Cambridge and has taught English in the United States and abroad to teenagers and adults.
Amy lives in Takoma Park, MD, and is the mom of twin boys who recently started their college journeys (one in the U.S. and one in the Netherlands).
Amy is an art lover and paints and creates in her free time. She loves travel and books of all kinds – with a soft spot for international spy thrillers.
