We are growing!

We are excited to announce that, due to your support and our remarkable growth over the last year, we at Moxie College Counseling are expanding! It is a thrill to see Team Moxie glow up and grow up to help more students thrive.

New Counselors at Moxie College Counseling

In fact, we recently brought on two new counselors for this very purpose: Xixi Rivera, who has spent over a decade in higher education guiding students of diverse backgrounds through their academic careers, and Jen Ewing, who has over fifteen years of experience in both K-12 and higher education as a success coach, academic advisor, teacher, administrator, and college counselor.

You can see their bios and check out the rest of our team on our website. Don’t hesitate to say hi by shooting them an email or giving us a call. We love hearing from you!

We Value Counselor-Student Connection Above All Else

There are a lot of factors to consider when choosing the right counselor for your child, but here at Moxie, we value the counselor-student connection above all else. Does your student connect with their advisor? What sort of rapport will they have? We all know it’s a lot easier to follow directions and take advice from someone you both like and respect.

This piece of common wisdom inspires us to offer a variety of counseling styles and identities embodied by our now-bolstered team of stellar educational counselors. If you would like to take a look at a list of more general best-practices for working with an Independent Educational Counselor (IEC), visit our blog post about this very topic. In this post, we will focus on our philosophy behind counseling, one that hinges on the student-counselor relationship and how fundamental it is to finding success throughout one’s admissions process.

Choosing the Right Counselor

While it is most important to make sure that you’re working with a credentialed counselor who has a track record of success, the intangibles of one’s relationship with an IEC should also be highly scrutinized when picking the right counselor for you and your kid. As we mention above, every counselor possesses a different style, takes a different approach, and walks a different path with their students in hopes of reaching the same destination.

Therefore, not only is it important that you appreciate the uniqueness of your counselor’s approach but also the manner in which they interact with you. Enjoying a conversation that is seemingly unrelated to college admissions with your IEC today can pay major dividends come crunch time in autumn thanks to the relationship that both parties forge together.

Improving Moxie College Counseling

Thus, our recent growth here at Moxie only stands to raise the chances that we will have a counseling match for every student, one that will allow each of our unique clients to thrive in the light of their own journey. We look forward to helping more students map out a college admissions plan and navigate the sometimes confusing decision-making process that high school brings.

Most of all, however, we look forward to the connections that we make with all of our students, facilitating the chance of connection even further by offering more counseling options than ever before.
