Meet Samantha
As a lifelong athlete and Moxie’s athletic recruitment specialist, Samantha Shapiro is passionate about helping students play their sport at the next level. Sam’s love for sports, coupled with her passion for working with high school students, brought her to this work shepherding student-athletes through the college recruitment process. Since then, she has helped countless students clearly define and achieve their educational, athletic, and professional goals while successfully engaging with college coaches to earn their spot on the team at the college that’s right for them.
Having gone through the full NCAA recruitment process herself, Sam possesses a strong knowledge of the recruiting process and college athletics landscape and seeks to promote useful introspection in her students, which equips them to navigate athletic recruitment, college academics, and personal milestones. Additionally, through her work as an editor of the sports section at The Daily Princetonian, she connected with student athletes all across campus. She won’t shy away from asking tough questions and providing honest feedback, while bringing high energy, enthusiasm, and compassion to every student.
Sam graduated from Princeton University with a Bachelor of Arts in Politics cum laude. She is an aspiring psychotherapist and will soon begin a master’s degree program in Mental Health and School Counseling at the University of Pennylvania. She has worked at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia on a study that examines adolescent depression in 9th and 10th graders. Currently, she is working on a study at the University of Pennsylvania on suicide prevention for autistic youth.
In her free time, she enjoys running, lifting weights, journaling, watching NCAA volleyball, and listening to music and podcasts.
