Meet Katherine

Katherine has over twenty years of experience in writing and editing. She is skilled in making complex information accessible to a broad audience. This expertise lends itself well to college essay writing, as she guides students through the process of distilling their thoughts and ideas into unique, compelling essays. Katherine loves the challenge of bringing out each writer’s authentic voice. She prompts her students with thoughtful questions to foster the flow of ideas and shape a narrative. She has been fortunate to work with writers from many different countries and educational backgrounds. Her students have shared that she helps them express themselves in their own words, rather than making them sound like someone else.

Education & Experience

Katherine graduated with a BA in French from Princeton University and received an MA in International Relations from Johns Hopkins’ School for Advanced International Studies. Her work in international development has included managing communications for small firms and editing US Government and World Bank publications. She speaks French, Spanish, and Haitian Creole, and serves on the board of a nonprofit working in Haiti. Katherine lives in Maryland with her husband, three children, and the world’s best dog. In her free time, she sings in a rock band and performs custom birthday tribute songs.
