Meet Shannon

Shannon Jeffries brings a wealth of experience, authenticity, and joy to the college planning process. Having supported students from both sides of the desk as a college counselor and admissions representative, her approach is student-centered and strengths-focused. She believes all students can succeed in their post-secondary endeavors and encourages them to approach the application process from a place of personal power.

Shannon was the founding College and Career Coordinator at a D.C.-based international charter school, where she served a diverse student population in a rigorous academic program. Additionally, Shannon has worked for public and private universities, rendering admissions decisions for thousands of students. This experience shapes her counseling approach as she guides students toward making strategic choices that align with both their future goals and their most authentic selves.

Education & Expertise

Shannon’s leadership spans the nonprofit and education sectors, where she’s developed and implemented programs that have supported hundreds of high school and college students. At the University of Maryland, College Park, she served as an admissions counselor and led a scholarship program, allocating nearly $400k annually to students across Maryland.

With this experience, Shannon established the first college counseling program for a DC charter school and led students, families, and the broader school community through the college planning and application process. In her work, she built relationships with colleges and universities worldwide, connecting students to scholarships, selective summer programs, and other exciting opportunities.

Shannon has since served as the Assistant Director of Scholar Success for a scholarship program in the DC region, an application reader for Villanova University, and an independent board member for an education-focused nonprofit. She holds a B.A. in Psychology from The Ohio State University and an M.Ed. in School Counseling from the University of Maryland, College Park.
