Meet Josh

Josh brings a warm, fun, and student-centered approach to every aspect of the college admissions process. He empowers students to make informed academic choices, build purpose-driven extracurricular profiles, explore colleges that align with their post college goals and values, and craft compelling personal narratives that highlight a student’s intangibles. With deep experience supporting students from diverse backgrounds—including first-generation, military-connected, and student-athlete populations—Josh ensures each student’s path is both strategic and authentic.

He’s guided hundreds of students through creating balanced college lists, managing the application timeline, and developing standout essays. Whether facilitating college workshops, leading parent information sessions, or preparing students for interviews and visits, Josh emphasizes clarity, confidence, and authenticity at every step. He believes that every student has a powerful story to tell—and he helps them tell it with heart and precision.

Education & Experience

Josh’s expertise stems from his broad career in Private, Charter, and Public schools. He currently serves as Assistant Director of College Counseling at Charles E. Smith Jewish Day School, where he supports students’ college ambitions from a wide range of academic and cultural backgrounds. Prior to that, Josh led college counseling programming for a large public high school in Virginia and served as an administrator at several south Florida independent schools.

Josh completed a post masters year at Columbia University studying Education Policy and College Access. He holds an M.A. in School Counseling and Psychology from Ball State University, an Advanced Certificate in College Advising from Columbia University, and a B.A. in Intercultural Communication and Jazz Performance from George Mason University, where he was named Student of the Year of his graduating class. Outside of Moxie, you can find Josh teaching the drumline at the University of Maryland or getting some sunshine with his partner and their golden retriever, Gus.
