Meet Lily

Lily Weisberg is a tutor who loves helping students become clear, effective, beautiful writers. In her tutoring, Lily works closely with students to identify the ideas, images, and moments that feel most alive to them, then guides them in shaping those sparks into vivid, purposeful prose. She teaches concrete techniques—structural framing, tonal control, sentence rhythm, and narrative tension—while encouraging students to take creative risks and trust their instincts. She considers the personal essay the most fun, inventive, and rewarding part of the college application process, and she especially enjoys helping students translate complex experiences into writing that feels both authentic and artfully constructed. This balance of craft and creativity also shapes her work beyond the page.

Education & Experience

Lily graduated from Yale University with a B.A. in Humanities, earning distinction in the major and twice receiving the Wallace Prize, Yale’s top independently awarded writing award.

As a filmmaker, Lily’s work has screened at festivals across the country, including Montclair Film Festival, Santa Fe International Film Festival, and Mystic Film Festival. Her most recent film premiered internationally at the Raindance Film Festival in London, was selected as one of NoBudge’s Films of 2024, and earned her recognition as a “director to watch” by Director’s Notes. She is also the co-founder of Modern Silent Shorts, an initiative that commissions directors to create contemporary silent films accompanied by live, original music.
